⚙️ Sat 20 & Sun 21 Jun — Hanseatic Festival of Watersports, South Quay. Powerboats and circuit racers tearing up the Great Ouse at close to 100mph — one of Europe's biggest water-sport weekends, and completely free to watch from the quayside. 🐾 Sat 20 Jun, 9:30am–2pm — Minster Family Fun Day, King's Lynn Minster, Saturday Market Place. It opens at 9:30am with an outdoor pet service (yes, you can take the dog in for a blessing), and the mayor, Cllr Steve Bearshaw, kicks things off at 10am. Expect a café, traditional games, a bouncy castle, bell tower tours, the Shanty Men from 11am and a visiting fire engine. Free entry. See more – Lynn News

In the news this week

🏢 Lynn could get its own town council for the first time since 1974. A consultation this week found 85.9% of the 915 people who responded want a new local authority created, with better representation the top reason — though cost was the loudest objection. The last town council was scrapped in 1974. A decision on a fuller second consultation is expected imminently. See more – Lynn News

🏥 The QEH's managing director has stepped down. Michelle Arrowsmith left the role less than six months after starting in January, with Jo Segasby, the group's chief delivery officer, taking over on an interim basis. Hospital bosses stress there is no change to clinical services and patient safety remains the priority. See more – Lynn News

🚗 A contractor's been appointed for the new A10 access road. The scheme is meant to ease traffic on the approach to Lynn by becoming the new A10 — the sort of long-running road story worth keeping half an eye on if you commute that way. See more – Lynn News

🎵 Festival Too, Sat 27 & Sun 28 June, King's Staithe Square. The first of three free Festival Too weekends lands next weekend — live music down on the quayside, with four more nights on the Tuesday Market Place across the first two weekends of July. 🎸 Folk in the Town, Sat 18 & Sun 19 July. Two free days of traditional folk, Americana, folk rock and bluegrass in the heart of Lynn — one of the most atmospheric weekends of the summer if you like a fiddle and a pint. See more – west-norfolk.gov.uk

🎫 75th King's Lynn Festival, 12–25 July. The diamond-anniversary edition — two weeks of classical, jazz, folk, talks and walks right across town.
