The King's Lynn Festival opened its 75th year on Sunday, and the town's properly into festival fortnight now — the Kanneh-Masons play the Corn Exchange on Thursday, and there's free folk music and an open-air Back to the Future on the Tuesday Market Place to round off the week. Indoors or out, there's plenty to be getting on with.

🎻 Thu 16 Jul, 7.30pm — An evening with the Kanneh-Masons, Corn Exchange. Siblings Isata (piano) and Braimah (violin) play Mozart, Beethoven's “Moonlight” and “Waldstein” sonatas and Tchaikovsky — the Festival's big mid-week draw. Tickets £32–£35 (£32 Under 25s). Book on the Corn Exchange site.
🎬 Fri 17 Jul, 5–9pm — Open Air Film Night: Back to the Future (1985), Tuesday Market Place. A free outdoor screening with street food alongside — bring a blanket and make an evening of it. Full details on Discover King's Lynn.

⚓ Hunstanton's coastguard rescuers warn payment changes could put lives at risk. The town's Coastguard Rescue Team — which answered 150 emergency shouts last year — fears a move to a volunteer-with-expenses model will hollow out crews all along the West Norfolk coast. The Festival's grand finale: Mendelssohn's Fingal's Cave, Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto and Beethoven's Eroica — the same symphony that closed the very first Festival back in 1951. Tickets £33–£36.
