Festival's 75th birthday marked with a brand-new song.
The Festival commissioned Like a Bell — a new piece by James McConnell, premiered
by the Guildhall Singers to celebrate 75 years since the Festival grew out of the restoration of
St George's Guildhall back in 1951. Read the story on the

🏥 Fresh hope for the QEH rebuild. The Government
says it “remains committed” to the up to £1.5 billion needed to rebuild
the Queen Elizabeth Hospital — welcome reassurance after fears the funding could slip.

Plans were approved this week for Tiny Vision, a private baby scanning clinic, to move into a
listed building on the Saturday Market Place — the old Waffleopolis unit, before it

The Festival's grand finale: Mendelssohn's Fingal's Cave, Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto
and Beethoven's Eroica — the same symphony that closed the very first Festival
